Dr. Andy Wood OBE, Chief Executive of Suffolk brewers Adnams came and talked to us as part of out Talk of Wells Series. This year's Talk of Wells is in aid of The Wells Maltings Trust which was set up in 2010 to oversee the regeneration and development of the Maltings, Sackhouse and Granary Theatre in Wells-next-the-Sea and to create an exciting new cultural and community hub for North Norfolk with an exciting and diverse programme of imaginative and distinct entertainment including theatre, music, comedy, cinema and exhibitions and an immersive heritage attraction. It will be North Norfolk’s Premier Arts & Heritage Centre.
As well as running the brewery, Andy also finds time to teach at the University of East Anglia as Professor in Corporate Leadership. He is heavily involved in all things to do with tourism in the region, sits on many boards and has accompanied government trips worldwide as an advisor. He regaled us with tales of business and beer and talked of his career with Adnams. He talked of how from their home in Southwold, Adnams has been brewing beer since 1872 and how the business today thrives on its passion and drive for quality and an instinct for innovation. He talked of his belief that it is Adnams' approach to taking long-term decisions for their business, their employees, their communities and the environment, that places them as one of the most recognised mid-sized companies in the country.
