The Talk of Wells - Roger Law

Each autumn/winter we hold a series of fascinating talks in aid of a local charity. This year's Talk of Wells is in aid of The Wells United Charities. It is group of charities with the common objectives to alleviate poverty since 1912. Whilst very small, WUC has been both giving bursaries to students leaving Alderman Peel High School to embark on 16+ education to help pay for text books & travel as well as supporting the other end of the spectrum by helping local, elderly residents with their fuel bills through the winter months. Amidst a battlefield of scores of worthy charities, The WUC has a very small voice and we have chosen to champion it this year.

Our first evening will be with Roger Law, Caricaturist and Ceramicist and creator of the immensely popular satirical TV puppet show Spitting Image. Larger than life, Roger's talk will be entitled 'Thatcher Made Me Do It'! Now working a great deal in China on the most amazingly beautiful and huge pots, Roger has spent years working with the BBC providing fascinating and often controversial radio and television documentaries.

So, join us on specific Mondays through the Autumn and Winter when a special menu of two courses and a glass of wine will be served for £22.00. We will donate £5.00 to the fund for every person eating. Come and enjoy talks from the men and women who will talk with passion about their lives and adventures.
