Thanks to our wonderful team!

10 Dec 2015
We wanted to say ‘thank you’ to our great team – they are all so committed, supportive, hard-working and charming. So we had a delicious, simple supper at The Globe served by the management (yes we do know how!) then we all went bowling. It was hilarious! Antonia’s team won (with not many thanks to Antonia’s bowling skills!). It was a raucous evening.

There was a serious note to the evening as well, and that was to praise some very special people:

Donna Ellis, our brilliant and lovely Head Housekeeper, was named ‘Employee of the Year’. She received a two night stay at The Bell in Saxmundham. Donna has done sterling work keeping great standards in the bedrooms and the hotel generally.

Dan Youngs received the award for ‘Rising Star’. At 17 years old, Dan is consistently praised by customers as diligent, enthusiastic and thorough. Having recently decided that catering has really become his passion, we are now giving Dan the opportunity to spend time in the kitchen, with housekeeping as well as working in the restaurant and bar. A great young man, he will be enjoying a two-course lunch for two at The Boat House in Norwich.

Bogdan Lung, one of our chefs, was given a fabulous Tom Kerridge Cookery Book for the ‘Amazing What You Have Achieved in a Year’ Award. Bogdan is from Romania and has been with us for 18 months. He has truly achieved so much that now we are delighted we are putting him through college. He has not only gained in cheffing capabilities but also in confidence. He’s a joy in the kitchen and a much loved member of the team.

Other awards were the ‘Have You Really Been Here That Long’ award given to Gary Douglas for 10 years of dedicated hard work as Kitchen Porter; Harley Bunn received one for the ‘Best Cappuccino Maker’ and Julie Upton received the ‘Agony Aunt’ Award for most supportive shoulder!

We really are very lucky to have such an amazing bunch of people, thanks to all!
